Tomato sauce

Tomato Sauce

This is something that anyone really should be able to make. Tomato sauce is perfect for various pasta recipes and of cause pizza. And, who doesn’t like pizza, right!

It just makes the whole thing that much better when you make everything from scratch.

This is a simple, but yet delicious recipe, that anyone can make. If you wish to mix it up a little you could also add chili or bell peppers – the possibilities are endless.

If you grow your own vegetables as well, this will become a nice recipe to use for all those tomatoes that you are going to get. Also, you can easily preserve the tomato sauce in an airtight glass container. This is ideal if you have some extra tomatoes that you don’t know what to use for.

3 cans of plum tomatoes
1 large onion
1 handful of basil
½ tbsp oregano
½ tsp sugar
4-5 garlic cloves

Start by finely chopping the onions and the garlic cloves.
In a medium pan add olive oil and fry the onions until they are soft and golden. Don’t burn the onion. This will take about 7-10 min to do.
Add the finely chopped garlic and fry for a minute. Don’t fry them too long or they’ll become bitter.
Add the plum tomatoes, basil, oregano, sugar, salt and pepper. Let it simmer for 30 min.
If you want the sauce to be smooth simply run the sauce through a food processor.
